Simon Cohn, Principal Advisor
As Principal Advisor, Simon draws on leadership experience, passion and knowledge built over two decades in the natural resources sector. He specialises in operations improvement, mine design and technical services team management, and leverages experience in open-cut and underground metalliferous and coal mines across Australia and abroad. An inspired leader and mentor, he builds unified teams and robust partnerships with clients. Simon is a Non-Executive Director of MEC Mining, having previously served as Managing Director.
Mark Bowater, Principal Advisor
Mark joined MEC Mining as a Principal Mining Engineer in 2017. An accomplished and experienced engineer, Mark has worked on numerous projects and studies for MEC. Alongside his technical expertise, Mark brings a high level of business acumen to his work. Having been engaged in the mining industry since the 1990s, his broad expertise covers cost modelling and estimation; mergers and acquisitions; resource, reserve and operational evaluation and review; JORC resource and reserve reporting; equipment evaluation, selection and procurement; business improvement; and specialist short-term project management.
Christofer Catania, Principal Advisor
A mining engineer with more than 12 years’ experience working across commodities including zinc, iron ore, copper, gold, iron sands and coal, Chris has a superior level of technical and operational expertise. He possesses strong skills in short-, medium- and long-term scheduling across a range of software, and is a confident project manager and leader in open-cut mining. In addition to his role as Principal Advisor, Chris leads the wider MEC Mining team in his role as General Manager, Operations.
Ted Boulton, Principal Advisor
Ted co-founded MEC Mining in 2005 and became our Director of Consulting Services in 2012 before moving into the role of Non-Executive Director in 2017. He has worked extensively in both technical and operational roles during more than 15 years in the mining industry. Ted has consistently delivered successful mining projects and has led several large feasibility studies and project teams. He has a special interest in alternative mining methods and is open to challenging industry standards and guidelines to improve the future of mining.
Daniel Chippendale, Principal Advisor
A passionate business leader and mining engineer, Daniel co-founded MEC in 2005 and is now a Non-Executive Director. From his early experience in open-cut coal mines, Daniel specialised in operations improvement, mine design and technical project management. He is a strong leader who is focused on improving business performance and has successfully guided MEC through various commodity cycles and challenges.
Rod Bonner, Principal Advisor
With two decades of experience working with clients and contract providers across a diverse range of commodities and operations as well as bulk logistics. Having worked in all parts of the mining chain Rod specialises in long-term and life-of-mine planning; equipment selection; logistics planning and selection, cost estimation; and financial analysis (Studies and mergers and acquisitions).
Ashley Ginn, Principal Advisor
Ashley is a mining engineer from UQ, with over 20yrs’ experience in operational management, technical services, and business development across the Australian & Indonesian coal industry. Ashley is currently advising at an operation in Jakarta. Application of a holistic approach and process to deliver a professional, cost-effective service to mining companies and contractors.
